Good to know
The Right of Public Access – Important Information!
“Do not disturb, do not destroy” is a basic rule of the right of public access. The freedom to explore Sweden’s natural landscapes also comes with personal responsibility. We are allowed to pick flowers, berries, and mushrooms—but you are personally responsible for finding out which species in the area are protected and therefore may not be picked.

The Right of Public Access is a privilege and a freedom that depends on everyone—you, me—being considerate and protecting nature. It can be likened to a chain where each link is only as strong as its weakest point. You therefore have a personal responsibility to look out for yourself and, unfortunately, for others who have not been considerate. This responsibility is especially important when you are in a national park.
In Stora Sjöfallet National Park, you may hike, swim, camp, build campfires, etc., but you must not damage the natural environment. Special rules apply here for biking, fishing, dogs, and more. The Laponia & Stora Sjöfallet World Heritage Site has been used by people for thousands of years; we must all take care to preserve it for future generations.
